A Detailed Week to Cut Your Cook Time!

We did all the work for you: here’s a meal plan with cooking schedule and costs!

The “HOW TO” part of meal planning, budgeting and mouth feeding without spending all week in the kitchen.

I created this week menu and game-plan as a snap-shot example of how to incorporate a range of budgets into a single week (from A-grade to C-grade meals) and still come out at UNDER $250 per person for a monthly grocery estimate… while fulfilling Calorie and nutrient needs.

Research supports eating a vegan or pesca-vegan diet to promote a more healthful longevity, so I’ve also included a vegan rendition for this week. The vegan and non-vegan meals are all included in this single file. In other words – each recipe is either inherently vegan or easily made into vegan meal.

“Spaghetti” and Meatballs with “Nomato” Sauce

Spaghetti and Meatballs with Nomato Sauce Plated

This recipe is by Mickey Trescott, in her book: The Autoimmune Paleo Cookbook: An Allergen free approach to managing chronic illness.

I’m posting her recipe to exemplify the high-cost of delicious healthy food that is so prevalent in today’s cookbooks. This recipe is very yummy, nourishing and for many – a means to an end of sacrificing spaghetti sauce – a way out!

I’ve included this recipe in my Detailed Paleo Week to:

  1. Show you how to create an “A” – grade week while incorporating a fancy “C” grade recipe like this one.
  2. Highlight a truly unique and yummy alternative to the typical “tomato-based” spaghetti recipes out there.

Pulled Chicken

Pulled Chicken in the pot

Because not every omnivore eats pork or beef.

This recipe cooks itself. It does require time and occasional check-ins but the outcome is worth it. Plus, endless pairings.

$ – SAVVY: Growing your own herbs, although somewhat costly up front, actually helps save a lot of money down the road. This recipe would almost earn a “B” if I used herbs from my own garden. ( > $70 savings/month for this meal! )
